✨ Assistant – Strategic Growth Pilot

This is an initial pilot role designed to strategically strengthen EmpoweRanch’s communications capacity and expand its reach during this important stage of growth. If the pilot is successful, there is potential to extend and grow the position. We know the skill and dedication this work requires, and we value the impact it can have. This role will directly support our ability to reach more people, deepen our impact, and build sustainable systems for the future.

📌 Position Snapshot

  • Title: Assistant

  • Hours: ~8–10 hours/week (initial pilot term)

  • Compensation: Flat fee per defined project deliverable (equivalent to approximately $18/hour)

  • Location: Hybrid – remote admin work + occasional on-site in South Phoenix

  • Initial Contract: 6 weeks (extension dependent on organizational growth and impact)

EmpoweRanch is a trusted 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Phoenix, Arizona. We offer inclusive, equine- and nature-based therapeutic recreation and education programs serving youth, veterans, people with disabilities, and the broader community.

🐎 Why This Role Matters

EmpoweRanch is entering a pivotal stage of growth. The Executive Director currently oversees many core functions, and this role is designed to strategically distribute responsibilities and build sustainable systems that will:

  • Increase visibility and engagement through social media, website, and email communications

  • Strengthen internal systems that support marketing, outreach, and volunteer engagement

  • Create space for leadership to focus on strategic growth.

Your work will directly shape how we reach, engage, and serve people through outdoor nature- and animal-based therapeutic recreation and education programs and services.

🧭 Core Responsibilities

Social Media & Marketing

  • Develop and launch a one-month content calendar during the first two weeks of the contract

  • Create and schedule daily or near-daily posts using Canva

  • Draft clear, professional captions and ensure consistent formatting

  • Keep content organized in Google Drive

Website & Communications

  • Update key pages on Squarespace

  • Post announcements and calls to action that support community engagement

  • Support basic email communications and outreach templates

System Setup & Support

  • Assist with setting up Constant Contact

  • Update volunteer/program opportunities on Vome

  • Create simple, repeatable workflows

Administrative Organization

  • Improve and maintain file structure and naming systems

  • Prepare checklists or templates for repeatable communications and marketing tasks

Optional Support (as capacity allows)

  • Assist with applicant or volunteer tracking

  • Help with sponsorship or outreach follow-up lists

💬 A Note on Compensation

We know this work requires real skill and professional experience. While our budget is modest, this role is intentionally designed to offer fair compensation for what many talented volunteers might otherwise be unable to contribute. We value meaningful impact, flexibility, and collaboration, and we will treat you as a trusted partner in building our communications foundation.

🧾 Project-Based Pay Model

  • Project deliverables and flat fees defined in advance

  • Typical projects include:

    • Content calendar development

    • Website updates

    • File organization

    • Email platform setup

    • Social media scheduling

👤 Ideal Candidate

  • If unfamiliar with a system/platform, willing to learn independently of role in order to gain skills needed to complete projects/tasks

  • Organized, prompt, reliable communicator

  • Demonstrates strong time management skills, including the ability to estimate task duration and set clear priorities

  • Proficient with Canva and Squarespace

  • Experienced in managing social media calendars

  • Comfortable setting up platforms like Constant Contact and ClickUp (or similar)

  • Mission-driven and self-directed

  • Bonus: Familiar with equine or outdoor programs and/or recreational therapy
